Eighty socket head cap screws in A2 stainless across four sizes, driven with a hex key rather than a screwdriver. The socket drive is the reason to choose these: it takes far more torque than a slot or a cross-head before it rounds out.

A2 is genuinely corrosion-resistant through the body rather than plated on the surface, so these survive outdoors, in damp, and in a bathroom. That is what you are paying the premium for.

One real caveat, stated plainly: stainless galls. Driven fast and dry into a stainless thread, the two surfaces cold-weld and the screw seizes solid halfway in. Drive them slowly, and use an anti-seize compound in a stainless-to-stainless joint.

Care

  • Drive slowly. Heat from a fast driver is what causes galling.
  • Use anti-seize on any stainless-into-stainless thread, especially M8 and above.
  • Seat the hex key fully before applying torque — a partly seated key is what rounds a socket.

Cautions

  • Not rated for overhead lifting, rigging, towing, or any application where a failure drops a load on someone. Those need certified, individually traceable hardware and this is not that.
  • Not structural. Do not use in load-bearing building work, vehicle suspension, brakes, or steering.
  • No published proof load or torque spec is supplied with these, because they are a general-purpose assortment rather than a graded batch. If your application needs a number, buy graded fasteners with a certificate.
  • Not as strong as high-tensile plated steel. A2 stainless is roughly grade 8.8 equivalent at best; do not substitute it where a 10.9 or 12.9 bolt is specified.
  • Not for direct contact with aluminium in a wet environment without isolation — the galvanic pair corrodes the aluminium.
