Sized, rated, and stated.

Hardware fails people in a specific way, and it is almost never that the part arrived broken. It arrives exactly as described, and then gets used for something it was never rated to do — a bolt out of a general-purpose assortment hung with a load, a decorative brass fitting plumbed into a pressurised drinking water line.

The part has not failed. It was used outside its specification. But the customer does not experience it that way, and they are not wrong to be annoyed: nobody told them.

So we tell them, on every product page, in a field headed what it is not rated for. It costs a small number of sales. It is cheaper than the alternative, and it is the honest way to sell a thing that can hurt someone if it lets go.

Every part is sampled from three suppliers against the same written specification, with the labels off the boxes. Threads go on a gauge, hardened parts get a hardness file, and anything plated goes under a coating thickness gauge.

That last one matters more than it sounds. Plating is where a fastener gets quietly cheapened, because you cannot see the difference between eight microns of zinc and three — until the cheap one blooms white in a damp garage a year later. It is the single most common corner cut in this trade.

None of this is exotic. It is the ordinary diligence any decent buyer does. We mention it because most catalogues do not say whether anyone did it at all.

There are no star ratings, no review counts and no testimonials anywhere here. Not because we do not want them — because this shop is new, and a new shop displaying four thousand reviews is telling you something about itself that has nothing to do with bolts.

And there are no proof-load or torque figures on the general-purpose assortments, because we do not have certificates for them. A number without a certificate behind it is worse than no number, because someone will design against it.
