An open-mouth bag in eighteen-ounce waxed cotton duck with a full leather base and solid brass rivets and buckles. Open-mouth because a zip is the first thing to fail on a tool bag and because you can see what is in it.
The base is leather rather than canvas for the obvious reason: a tool bag spends its life being set down on grit and concrete, and that is where a canvas bottom wears through. Internal pockets run around the wall, and the mouth holds itself open on a sprung steel frame.
Waxed canvas is water-shedding, not waterproof. It also creases permanently where it folds, and the crease pattern is what makes a bag look like yours rather than like a product photograph.

- Finish & tolerance
- Olive waxed duck with a slight sheen that dulls with use. The wax bloom lightens at every crease — this is the material behaving normally. Colour deepens with handling and sun.
- Made
- Canvas woven and waxed in the United States. Cut and sewn in the United States.
Care
- Brush dirt off dry. For anything worse, cold water and a stiff brush only.
- Re-wax the high-wear areas once a year with a proprietary fabric wax, warmed in.
- Dry naturally, away from heat.
- Empty it before storing it — tools left in a bag for a season leave rust marks in the canvas.
Cautions
- Never machine wash, tumble dry or dry clean. All three strip the wax completely and it cannot be fully restored.
- No detergent, no solvent, no hot water.
- Not waterproof. It sheds rain; it does not survive immersion, and the seams are not sealed.
- The wax transfers. Do not set it on light upholstery or a car seat you care about, particularly in warm weather.
