Six machined compression fittings in graduated sizes — straight couplers, elbows and a tee — each with its olive and nut. Machined from solid brass bar rather than cast, which is why the hex flats are crisp and the threads run smoothly by hand.
A compression fitting seals by crushing a soft brass olive between the nut and the fitting body onto the pipe. Done correctly it is a permanent, reliable seal that needs no solder and no flame. Over-tightened, the olive deforms past its seal and the joint weeps — tighten until it stops turning easily, then a quarter turn more, and no further.
Unlacquered, so these arrive bright and go brown. On a visible run of copper that is usually the point.
The specification
Everything we know about this part, stated plainly — including what it is not rated for. The same record is printed on the card in the box.
- Material & finish
- Solid CZ121 brass, machined from bar. Unlacquered. Soft brass olives supplied.
- Dimensions
- 1/4" straight coupler · 5/16" straight coupler · 3/8" elbow · 3/8" straight coupler · 1/2" elbow · 1/2" tee. Six fittings with nuts and olives.
- Weight
- 540 g the set
- Finish & tolerance
- Bright machined brass with visible turning marks on the body, darkening to warm brown over weeks. Colour varies slightly between fittings from different bar stock — visible if you line them all up, invisible in use.
- Made
- Machined and finished in the United States.
Care
- Cut pipe square with a wheel cutter and de-burr the inside before assembly. A burr will score the olive and the joint will weep.
- Tighten until resistance rises sharply, then a quarter turn. Do not keep going.
- Use a new olive on every remake. A crushed olive does not seal twice.
- Wipe with a dry cloth. Let the patina develop; polishing it back is a job with no end.
Cautions
- NOT rated or certified for potable drinking-water plumbing. These are general-purpose fittings sold for workshop, display, low-pressure and decorative use. Potable water needs certified fittings installed to your local code — in most places, by a licensed plumber.
- Not for gas. Not for compressed air above 8 bar. Not for steam, fuel, or any hydraulic line.
- Not for buried or concealed runs. A compression joint must stay accessible and inspectable.
- Do not mix these with olives or nuts from another manufacturer — the taper angles differ and the joint will not seal.
