Wire Brush
Crimped steel bristles, hardwood handle
$16.00
USDStandard shipping $8.00, free over $75. Arrives in 3–5 business days. 30-day returns.
A four-row shoe-handle brush with crimped carbon steel bristles set in a shaped hardwood block. Crimped rather than straight bristles, so they flex and return instead of taking a permanent set after a week.
For rust, scale, weld spatter and cleaning a thread before it gets a new nut. The handle shape lets you get weight over the work, which is most of the job.
The specification
Everything we know about this part, stated plainly — including what it is not rated for. The same record is printed on the card in the box.
- Material & finish
- 0.35 mm crimped carbon steel bristles, four rows, set in a shaped beech block.
- Dimensions
- Block 245 mm long. Bristle area 140 × 30 mm, 25 mm trim length.
- Weight
- 185 g
- Finish & tolerance
- Unfinished beech and bright steel. The block darkens with handling; the bristles dull and shorten with use, which is normal wear rather than a fault.
- Made
- Machined and finished in the United States.
Care
- Tap it out on the bench edge rather than washing it. A wet steel brush rusts and then transfers that rust to the next thing it touches.
- Store bristles-up or hanging so they keep their set.
Cautions
- Wear eye protection. Steel bristles break off and leave the brush at speed — this is the single most common eye injury in a home workshop.
- Carbon steel bristles WILL leave particles in stainless steel that then rust and stain it. Use a dedicated stainless brush on stainless.
- Not for aluminium or brass — it gouges both.
- Not for a powered tool of any kind. This is a hand brush.
